Sesame Street was founded by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrissett. It first premiered in 1969. They had one goal in mind– to prepare disadvantaged kids for school.

This was the very first episode in 1969.

The show targets cognitive and affective goals. 

Producers and researchers first assess cognitive goals and indirectly address affective skills.

This method aims to increase self-esteem and feelings of competency. 

Sesame Street (Elmo's World 1998-2009)

Sesame Street aims to teach children literacy through puppetry, repetition, and animated sequences. Elmo's World was a segment on Sesame Street that taught children the meaning of interpersonal connection through field interviews and production. Since its ending in 2004, Sesame Street had shifted toward hybrid content with animation and real-life characters. â€‹

Over the years, Sesame has shifted toward animated content with quicker pacing.
